Tournaments
A bracket of your beers that people pick on PintDeck Taste or a public link, called round by round and shown on your TVs.
A tournament is a bracket of 4, 8 or 16 of your beers. Before it starts, people fill in the whole bracket, picking the winner of every matchup. Then you call each matchup, and every entry scores points for each right pick.
Taste members enter from your page in Taste, where a card shows while entries are open. Anyone else enters at the public link or its QR code, signed in to Taste or as a guest. Tournaments are at the bottom of Customers › Challenges, and anyone on your team can build one. The public link and the TV work even before your brewery is claimed on Taste.
Create a tournament
Name it
Click New tournament. Give it a Tournament Name, an optional description, a Bracket Size of 4, 8 or 16 beers, and a Layout: Tree or Split. Click Next.
Seed the bracket
Click each empty slot and pick a beer from your Beers list. The count at the top shows how many are placed. Click Next once every slot is filled.
Create it
Check the summary and click Create Tournament. It opens in the editor.
Open entries
The editor has three tabs, Bracket, Responses and Settings.
Set the rules
On Settings, set the Title and Subtitle / Caption, and add Rules. They show on the public page, and in each guest's confirmation email. Click Save Settings.
Start taking entries
Click Responses closed. It turns to Accepting responses. It needs every first-round slot filled and your changes saved. Click it again to close entries.
Share it
The Responses tab has the public link, with a copy button, and its QR code. Click the QR code to download it for a table tent. Print opens the bracket on its own page for printing.
How people enter
On the public page, people pick a winner for every matchup, then enter:
- Signed in to Taste: the entry is theirs, one per account. Taste members can also enter in the app.
- As a guest: first name, last name, email and phone. One entry per email and per phone. They get an email with a private link to follow their bracket. If they later sign in to Taste with that email, the entry joins their account.
Call each matchup
Switch from Build to Score, then click the beer that won each matchup to send it through. Click Save: every entry is rescored, and entrants see their scores change.
Round points sets what a right pick is worth in each round, doubling by default (1, 2, 4, 8). A pick is right when the beer it sends through is the beer that won, so a beer someone had going further than it went costs them every later round it was in. Click a round's name in the bracket to rename it.
In Build, you can still swap a first-round beer: click its slot. Discard changes drops anything unsaved.
Responses
The Responses tab counts Submissions and shows the Avg Score and Top Score. The table lists each entry's Rank, Name, Email, Phone, Score and when it was submitted. Click one to see its bracket. Deleting an entry asks you to type DELETE first.
On your TV
Add the tournament to a TV playlist with Add bracket, which shows the bracket as you call it, or Add leaderboard, which shows the top entries by score, from Top 3 to Top 25.
Delete a tournament
In the tournament's row menu, choose Delete. It can't be undone.
