Challenges
Giving Taste members a reason to come in and come back, with beer hunts, come-backs, style trails, events and first visits.
A challenge is a short list of tasks a Taste member finishes at your brewery, usually for a reward. Members see it on your Taste page, join it there, and it stays in their Challenges in the app.
Creating challenges is part of Brewhouse and Reserve, for owners and admins. On Taster you can still be a stop on another brewery's trail, mark beers for the monthly theme and redeem rewards. Challenges need your brewery claimed on Taste.
The rules every challenge follows
- On site, once a day. Each task counts on a log inside your check-in area, one per day, so nobody finishes in one night.
- No amounts. A challenge can't ask anyone to drink five of anything. A come-back counts visit days, never drinks.
- Inside its dates. A log outside the challenge's days doesn't count.
- People, not drinks. Results count people, never what they drank.
Kinds
| Kind | Members | For example |
|---|---|---|
| Beer hunt | Log these beers here | Märzen Month: three lagers, three visits |
| Come back | Visit on a number of days, from 2 to 12 | Regulars' Quarter: six visit days |
| Style trail | Try these styles here | Stout Season: four dark styles |
| Event | Check in at an event | Trivia Tuesdays: check in at trivia |
| First visit | Welcome newcomers | Welcome in: your first visit |
| Joint trail | With other breweries | See Joint trails |
A challenge has up to 12 tasks.
Create a challenge
Click New challenge. It takes five steps, with a preview of what members see on Taste beside them.
Kind
Pick the closest one. It can't be changed once the challenge is made.
Tasks
Pick the beers, the number of visit days, the styles or the events.
- Beers come from your beers on Taste, so link your beers first.
- Styles you pour now come first, and you can add any other.
- Any of our events counts whichever of your events they come to.
- A first visit has one task: log any beer inside your brewery.
Details
- Name, and What members read.
- Code is optional and printed on reward coupons, as in CHL-MZN-0012.
- Starts and Ends are local days, both included. A draft can wait for dates.
- Who can join: Everyone on Taste, Your club members (members of your club who linked Taste), or First-timers (people who have never logged here). A first visit is always for first-timers.
Reward
Pick what finishers get. They redeem it once, as a coupon at your register.
| Reward | What it is |
|---|---|
| Merch | A glass, a shirt, a sticker. Say what in What it is. |
| A discount | A Percent off, once. |
| A Club perk | One of your live Club perks, picked under Which perk. |
| A card frame | Cards logged for it keep a frame. Nothing to redeem. |
| Nothing extra | The stamp and the bragging rights. |
The fine print adds a line of terms, and Good for (days after it ends) sets how long the coupon lasts, 45 days to start. Frame the cards too adds a frame in your house color on top of the reward.
Review
Check each line, then click Publish, or Save draft to finish later.
A published challenge is Scheduled until its start date, then Live.
A Club perk reward
Club members who linked Taste get it with their perks, and at a Square register. Everyone else gets a code your staff redeem. With no live Club perks, make one first: see Club.
The Challenges tab
Across the top: In a challenge now, First visits (people who had never logged here before joining), Came back (a second visit day since joining) and Rewards redeemed at your register.
Below, every challenge you're part of, filtered by All, Yours, Joint, Invitations and Drafts. Each row shows its status (Draft, Scheduled, Live or Ended), when it runs, and how many joined, finished and redeemed. Click a row to open it.
Change or end a challenge
Open it, then:
- Edit works while it's a draft or scheduled.
- End early stops it counting today. People who already finished keep their reward, and everyone keeps their stamps. This can't be undone.
Results
Once a challenge is published, its page shows Joined, First visits, Came back and Rewards redeemed, then:
- From seeing it to redeeming: how many people saw it, joined, did the first task, finished and redeemed.
- Which task people finish: how many people finished each task.
Nobody is listed by name.
Taste's theme of the month
PintDeck runs a theme on Taste each month, in parts. When there's one, a card at the bottom of the tab says Taste's theme this month is and its name. Click Mark beers, then tap your beers or events that fit each part. A log of one counts toward that part. Beers whose style fits are outlined. Owners and admins mark; everyone else sees See marks.
On beer and event pages
A beer's page and a Taste event's page have a Challenges panel listing the challenges that use it.
