Check-in area
Drawing the area around your taproom where a log counts as being at your brewery, and what on-site check-ins unlock.
The check-in area is how close a drinker has to be for a log to count as being at your brewery. It's the Check-in area card on Overview, beside your page, and it appears once your brewery is claimed. Owners and admins can change it.
What counts on site
A log inside your check-in area is what Taste rewards:
- Beer cards. A beer's cards mint only from logs inside your area, and each edition counts the days someone logged that beer there. See Beer cards and editions.
- The First Pour. The first person to log a beer inside your area holds its one-of-one card.
- Events. Members attend an open event by checking in inside your area during its hours. See Taste events.
- Challenges. Every task counts on a log inside your area, once a day, and a trail stop is a log inside that brewery's area. See Challenges.
A log anywhere else still goes in the drinker's history. It just doesn't earn any of these.
Set the location before anything else
Until your location is set, nobody can earn a First Pour or attend an event at your brewery.
Set your location
Find the building
Search your address under Location, or stand at the bar and click Use my current location.
Move the pin onto the taproom
An address can land on the street, or on the far side of a large site. Drag the pin on the map onto the taproom itself. It saves when you drop it.
Pick a shape
Under Shape, choose Radius or Drawn area.
Radius is a circle around the pin, which suits most buildings. Type a number of meters under Radius and click Save. It starts at 250 meters and can be anywhere from 100 to 500. Below 100, phone GPS error is bigger than the circle, so a tighter setting turns real customers away rather than keeping anyone out.
Drawn area is for a site that isn't round: the patio and parking lot in, the apartments next door out. Switching to it draws a box the size of your radius to start from.
Shape it
Drag the corners onto your property line. Drag the middle of an edge to add a corner. To start over, press the pencil and click each corner, then click the first one again to close the shape.
Save it
Click Save area. Beside it, the card counts the corners and says whether the shape is saved.
A drawn area needs 3 to 64 corners, every corner within 500 meters of the pin, every edge at least 100 meters from the pin, and no edges that cross. If the shape breaks a rule, the card says which, and Save area waits until it's fixed.
To go back to a circle, choose Radius and confirm with Use a radius. Your drawn area is deleted.
Test it
Under Test a spot, click Am I inside?. PintDeck uses where you're standing and tells you how far you are from the pin and whether you're inside. Walk to the patio, the parking lot and the far end of the taproom, and check each one.
