Payments
Connecting your own Stripe or Square account for paid tickets and club dues, choosing which one takes cards, and disconnecting.
Settings › Payments connects your brewery's own Stripe account, and Square if your register already runs on it, so you can take cards for paid tickets and paid club levels. Only admins and the owner see it.
The money goes straight to your own account, under your name. PintDeck takes no fee; Stripe's or Square's own processing fee applies as usual.
Connect Stripe
Start
Click Connect Stripe. Setting up takes about ten minutes; have your business's EIN and bank account ready.
Finish on Stripe
Stripe walks you through making an account, or using one you already have, and asks for your business details and a bank account for payouts.
Come back
Stripe sends you back to Payments. If you stop partway, Stripe saves your progress: Finish Stripe setup picks up where you left off.
What the Stripe card says
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not connected | No Stripe account yet. Cards and pay links are off; money taken by hand still works. |
| Needs info | Stripe needs something before you can take cards. The list says what, grouped as Past due, Needed now and Needed later, and by when. Click Finish Stripe setup. |
| In review | Stripe has everything it asked for and is checking it. There's nothing to do. |
| Ready | You're taking cards. The card shows This month (what came in through PintDeck), your Available and Pending balance, and the Next payout. Open Stripe dashboard goes to your account. |
| Paused | Stripe stopped card payments until something is fixed. Pay links say so, and staff can't take cards. Click Fix in Stripe. |
| Lost access | PintDeck lost access to the account from Stripe's side. Click Reconnect Stripe to take cards again. |
| Unavailable | Card payments aren't switched on for PintDeck yet. Get in touch. |
The card checks with Stripe each time you open it; Check again checks now. A Ready account can still say Stripe will want something by a later date. Nothing stops in the meantime.
Square
Already on Square at the register? Ticket cards can go to the same Square account:
- Staff type a card into Square's own card form, right on the guest list.
- A guest's pay link opens Square's checkout page, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Cash App Pay. Once they've paid, Square sends them back to the link, which is now their ticket.
- Members buying a ticket in PintDeck Taste pay on the same Square page.
Ticket sales show up in your Square dashboard with the rest of your sales, named for the event and its seats. PintDeck keeps them out of the register sales it reads into your reports, so a ticket never counts as a pint.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not connected | No Square account yet. Connect Square connects the account Settings › Register uses, which also reads your register's sales and lets club perks reach the register. |
| Register only | Connected for your register before tickets could use it. Click Reconnect Square once; Square asks you to approve two more things: making orders and taking payments. |
| Needs a location | Square didn't say which location is your main one. Click Reconnect Square and pick one. |
| Ready | Square can take ticket cards. The card shows the Account and Location. |
| Lost access | PintDeck lost access to your Square account. Square ticket payments stop until you click Reconnect Square; cash and checks still work. |
Disconnecting Square is in Settings › Register, because your register uses it too: Manage in Settings › Register on the card goes there. See Your register.
Tickets and club dues
Ticket cards and new members' club dues go through one account at a time. With only Stripe or only Square ready, it's that one, and the Tickets and club dues card says so. With both ready, pick one:
| Choice | How it works |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Cards in PintDeck's own form, with Apple Pay and Google Pay on a guest's pay link. Members pay dues on Stripe's checkout page. Payouts are in your Stripe dashboard. |
| Square | Square's card form for staff; guests pay on Square's checkout page, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Cash App Pay. Square bills members' dues. Sales sit beside your register's. |
Switching doesn't strand anyone. Members already paying dues keep paying where they started; only new members follow your pick. A card form or pay link someone already has open finishes where it started, and refunds always go back the way the money came in. Money taken by hand works either way.
Disconnect Stripe
Click Disconnect… on the Stripe card, type DISCONNECT and click Disconnect. If guests are checking out right then, the dialog says how many; they won't be able to finish. From then on:
- Pay links and ticket checkout stop taking cards through Stripe. If Square is ready, new ones open on Square instead. If not, a guest opening their pay link is told This brewery can't take cards right now.
- Money you take by hand keeps working.
- Members already paying dues keep paying: their agreement is with you, so PintDeck doesn't cancel it.
- Your Stripe account itself isn't touched, and money already in it stays yours. Connect it again any time.
