Templates and themes
Start a TV menu, print menu or web embed from a finished design, and save your own looks to reuse.
A template sets the look of a menu: fonts, colors, spacing, card style and the decoration around your list. Your sections and beers stay yours. The TV, print and embed studios each have their own set, and every plan can use them and save its own.
Pick a template
There are two ways in:
- When you create a menu. New Menu (TV), New print menu or New Embed opens a gallery. Pick one, name the menu, and create it.
- In a studio. Click Templates in the top bar, then Apply on the one you want.
Official templates are grouped: House, Brewery types, Fun, Holidays, Seasons, Classic, Modern, Rustic, Elegant, Playful and Seasonal. Which groups appear depends on the studio. My Templates holds the ones your brewery saved.
Some templates also take a Style: Cards, Minimal, Bold or Compact, or Auto to use the template's own. The Style buttons only appear when a template in the gallery uses them.
What applying a template changes
| Changes | Stays |
|---|---|
| Fonts, colors and spacing | Your sections and their order |
| How each beer's card is laid out | Your beers, items and prices |
| Every overlay: it replaces yours with the template's | The menu's name and display code |
Templates fill in your brewery's name, and its hours and address if they're set in your brewery's settings.
If the menu already has content, you're asked Apply this template? first. Changed your mind? ⌘Z undoes it.
Fitting a long list on a TV
On a TV, boards from the House, Brewery types, Fun, Holidays and Seasons groups fit themselves to the screen. As your list grows, the board gets smaller; if that isn't enough, it drops descriptions and flavor notes, then adds a column.
Change a TV menu from horizontal to vertical after applying one of these, and the template's header is laid out again for the new shape, as long as you haven't moved its overlays.
Save your own
Snapshot the design
In a studio, click the bookmark (Save as template) in the top bar.
Name it
Enter a Template name and an optional Description, then click Save template.
A saved template belongs to your brewery, so everyone on your team sees it under My Templates, in the same kind of studio it was made in. It's a full snapshot: the design, the overlays and the sections, plus the screen shape for a TV menu or the page size for a print menu. Applying it brings all of that, including its sections.
To remove one, hover over it under My Templates and click the trash icon. Deleting a template doesn't change menus made from it.
