Places and stock

Set up the places your kegs live, and choose which ones count toward each beer's stock.

A place is anywhere a keg can be: your cold room, a warehouse, a canning line, the bars you deliver to. A beer's stock is the full kegs at the places that are in stock for it, plus any serving tank holding it. Kegs anywhere else are still tracked, marked not in stock.

Kinds of place

KindWhat it's for
BreweryYour own site. One can be your default home, where new kegs start.
OtherAlso yours: a warehouse, a second taproom, a canning line.
AccountA customer. Kegs there were delivered, so they're never in stock.

The kind decides what a move does. Kegs going to an account are a delivery; kegs moving between your Brewery and Other places are never a pour. See Move kegs. A distributor you deliver to should be an Account.

Add a place

Open Manage places

On the Kegs tab, open the … menu and choose Manage places, then Add a place.

Name it and pick its kind

Enter the Name and pick Brewery, Account or Other as its Kind.

Say whether its kegs count

For a Brewery or Other place, answer Are kegs here part of stock?

  • Yes, for every beer: a second cold room, a taproom, the lines.
  • For some beers: opens the grid so you can pick them.
  • No: empties, a canning line, kegs you're holding back.

Add place

Parent location, Address and Notes are optional.

Yes, for every beer puts the place in stock for every beer that's already counted from its kegs. Beers you count by hand stay counted by hand.

Edit, archive or delete a place

Click a place in Manage places to change its name, type, parent, address or notes. A Brewery place can be the Default home (new kegs start here); Add kegs and Fill kegs start from it.

Archive hides a place you no longer use; tick Show archived to see it again and Restore it. Delete only works once no keg references the place. Otherwise, archive it or move its kegs first.

Which places make up stock

Open … › Which places make up stock on the Kegs tab. It's a grid: your beers down the side, your places across the top.

  • A ticked cell is a place in stock for that beer. A dashed one isn't.
  • The number in a cell is how many full kegs of that beer are there. not in stock means those kegs don't count.
  • Click a cell to put the place in or out of that beer's stock.

The Tanks column is always in stock, Accounts never are, and Stock totals each beer in barrels.

Putting the first place in stock for a hand-counted beer asks first: from then on its stock is its full kegs, and its hand counts stop. Taking out its last place switches it back to counting by hand. Its history stays either way.

For one beer

On a beer's Stock tab, Where it is says In stock at 2 places or Counted by hand. Change opens the grid with that beer at the top. The … menu's Where it's in stock… is the same choice as a checklist.

A place holding full kegs of the beer that isn't in stock for it shows as a dashed row with Put in stock. It previews the change first: the stock before and after, and the new out date. Nothing was poured, so the pace stays the same. Put it in stock does it for this beer only; For every beer… opens the grid.

Kegs you're holding for a release

Keep them at a place that isn't in stock for the beer, so they stay out of its out date. Move them to a place that's in stock on release day.

Counted from kegs, or by hand

A beer that's in stock at one or more places is counted from its kegs. Filling, emptying and moving its kegs keeps its stock current, and you can't type a hand count for it. A beer that's in stock nowhere is counted by hand.

On iPhone, the same choice is the Count from kegs switch in a beer's Tap settings, with the places under Kegs are at. A beer counted from its kegs has A keg kicked at the bottom of its page: pick which of its full kegs kicked, and Mark … empty takes it out of stock.
