Count by hand

Count a beer that isn't counted from its kegs, record beer that left without being poured, and fix a past count.

Inventory › Kegs › On handBrewhouse and ReserveAlso on iPhone

A beer that isn't in stock at any place is counted by hand: you type how many kegs are left, and PintDeck works out its pace and out date from the counts. Count it now and again in a few days, and the date appears.

Count a beer

Open the count

On On hand, click Count on the beer's row, or … › Count kegs. On the beer's Stock tab, click Count kegs at the top.

Enter what's left

Type the Kegs remaining. 0 marks the beer as out.

Say when

The Reading date is today. Add a Time (optional) if you counted earlier, and a Note (optional).

Save Reading

The beer's out date, pace and chart update straight away.

A beer with a serving tank can still have its kegs counted by hand. The field reads Kegs on hand (not the tank); the tank's gallons are counted for you and added on top.

Counted from its kegs? There's nothing to type

For a beer that's in stock at a place, Count kegs is grayed out. Its stock is its full kegs, so fill, empty and move the kegs instead.

Log one keg kicked

For a hand-counted beer with no serving tank, the beer's … menu has Log one keg kicked. It records a new count one keg lower than the last.

Record beer that wasn't poured

Kegs that leave without being poured shouldn't count toward the pace. On the beer's … menu, choose Record a draw (canning, loss):

ReasonUse it for
Reserve for canningKegs set aside for a canning run. They leave the pourable stock now, and the pace doesn't jump.
Dump / lossSpoiled or lost beer. It lowers the count without counting as a pour.

Enter the Kegs, the Date and a note, then Record Draw. Draws show in the beer's History, marked left out of the pace, and can be removed from there.

Record a draw is for hand-counted beers. For a beer counted from its kegs, hold the kegs for canning or mark them empty instead.

Add a count you missed

Add a past reading (on the beer's … menu, or Add a past count above its History) fills in what a beer had on a day you didn't record it, such as a count from before you used PintDeck. The chart, batches and pace recompute from that day on. Nothing about what's in your kegs or tanks right now changes.

Fix a count

Click a count in the beer's History to open Edit Reading. Change the number, the date, the time or the note, or Delete it. Everything after it recomputes: the chart, the batches and the pace.

Switching to counting from kegs

Put a place in stock for the beer and it's counted from its kegs from then on; take out its last place and it goes back to hand counts. Earlier counts still count toward its pace. See Places and stock.

On iPhone

Tap Count on a beer's row in Taps, or Record reading on its Stock tab. Record a reading takes the kegs left, with quick choices like −1 keg, Same as last and It's out, then Save reading. The beer's … menu has Log one keg kicked and Record a draw too.
