Move kegs

Record kegs going out to accounts, coming back and moving between your places, and read what each did on the Activity tab.

When kegs leave, come back or change places, record it with Move kegs. Where they're going decides the kind of move, and the kind decides what happens to stock. The Activity tab is the log.

Record a move

Open Move kegs

Click Move kegs at the top of the Kegs or Activity tab. You can also start from a stack's Move, a keg's Move, kegs you've picked, or an account's Collect, which fills in the kegs for you.

Pick From and To

Each place says what landing there means, such as Brewery · in stock for 11 of 12 beers or Account. Once both are set, a line underneath names the kind of move.

Add the kegs

Search the kegs at the From place, or type a range like 112-115 and press Enter. Each row shows the keg's beer. Apply same beer to all sets one beer for every keg.

Check After this

After this shows each beer's stock before and after the move.

Record it

The Date is today unless you change it. Notes (optional) is for the driver, a PO number, anything worth remembering. Then click Record Delivery, Record Return or Record Move.

The three kinds of move

KindWhere the kegs goWhat it does
DeliveryFrom your place to an accountFull kegs leave stock.
ReturnFrom an account to your placeA full keg comes back into stock; empties change nothing.
MoveBetween two of your placesNever a pour, so no beer's pace changes.

Kegs going from one account to another change nothing.

How moves change stock and the out date

For a beer counted from its kegs, a move can shift its out date. What counts is where the keg goes, not where you recorded it.

  • Delivered to an account. The keg leaves stock. By default it also counts as used, like a keg poured at your taproom, so it moves the beer's pace too.
  • Back from an account, still full. It cancels the use its delivery counted, and if it lands at a place that's in stock for the beer, it's back in stock.
  • Moved between your places. Never a pour. If the kegs land where their beer isn't in stock, Move kegs warns you before you save and offers a button to put that place in stock for the beer. If you don't, they leave the beer's stock, the pace stays the same, and the kegs show as not in stock.

For a beer you count by hand, moves don't change its stock. Your next count does.

When deliveries shouldn't count as use

If you want a beer's pace to mean only what your own places pour, turn off Deliveries to accounts count toward the burn rate in Settings › General, under Forecast Tuning. Only admins can change it. A delivery then lowers stock without changing the pace. It applies to deliveries logged from then on.

Accounts can't be in stock

A beer can't count an account as one of its places: kegs there were delivered, and counting them would undo the delivery. The beer's Stock tab says how many of its kegs are at accounts.

The Activity tab

The cards at the top sum up the last seven days: Delivered to accounts, Back from accounts, Moved between your places, Filled, and Counts and readings.

Below is every movement, fill, kick, wash and count, newest first and grouped by day. Filter by Deliveries, Returns, Moves, Fills and kicks or Counts, by place, and by Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days.

Each line ends with what it did:

Click a line to see its kegs, and a keg to open it.

Delete a movement

A movement's … menu has Delete movement. Only a keg's most recent movement can be deleted. It removes the line from the log; it doesn't move the kegs back, so record a move to put them where they really are.

On iPhone

In Cellar › Kegs, Move kegs opens a form with Delivery, Return and Transfer, a From and To, and the kegs to pick. Collect on an account starts a return. A keg's own Move and a scanned pile's They moved only ask for a destination; what that does to stock still follows where the kegs went. Activity is under Cellar › Kegs too.
