Fill, empty and clean

One keg's page, what each keg action does to stock, and holding kegs for a canning run.

Inventory › Kegs › KegsBrewhouse and ReserveAlso on iPhone

Click any keg to open its page. It says what the keg is doing now (Full of Cutline IPA, Needs cleaning, Ready to fill), whether it counts toward its beer's stock, where it is, and its history.

The keg's page

Under the headline, a line says whether the keg is in its beer's stock. If it sits at one of your places that the beer doesn't count, Put place in stock adds that place for the beer; see Places and stock.

Below that: Where it is, its Beer (or Last beer), and how long it has been that way. Once it has been filled, Fills, Usual trip (fill to clean) and Deliveries sum up its life.

The history shows as Trips, one row per fill, or Every entry, newest first. Add past entry records something that happened before you used PintDeck: Filled, Emptied or Cleaned, with the date and beer. It's the keg's record only; what the keg holds right now doesn't change.

Fill, empty or clean one keg

Pick the action

Fill, Mark empty or Mark clean. Filling asks which Beer.

Say when

When did this happen? Leave Today, or pick An earlier day (Yesterday, 2 days ago, 3 days ago, A week ago, or a date).

Check and save

What this does spells out the change before you save.

ActionWhat it does
FillMarks the keg full and adds its volume to the beer's stock.
Mark emptyMarks the keg kicked and dirty, and takes its volume out of the beer's stock.
Mark cleanResets the keg to clean and ready to fill. No beer moves, so stock is untouched.

An earlier day puts the change into the beer's history on that day, so its pace and out date account for it. If the beer has been counted since then, its history stays as counted and only the keg's record gets the earlier date.

A full keg that's refilled or cleaned

Sometimes a keg PintDeck still has as full gets filled or cleaned again. That usually happens when a mixed pile is scanned on iPhone and the whole pile is filled or cleaned, so the keg's kick was never recorded.

For a beer counted from its kegs, PintDeck decides whether the beer in it was poured:

  • If the keg had been full for 14 days or more, it counts as poured, the same as a kick.
  • Otherwise the beer's Stock tab asks, with a check such as Keg 12 was refilled while still full of this beer. It was sold counts it as poured and moves the date sooner; It was dumped records a dump and leaves the pace alone. See Check your data.

Hold kegs for canning

Hold for canning sets a full keg aside for a canning run. It stays in stock but no longer counts as pourable, so the beer's pace doesn't jump. It shows as For canning. Cancel the hold puts it back.

When the run is done, click Finish the run on a held keg, or Complete run on the beer's Stock tab.

Pick where the cans go

Produce into (Stock item) is the product the cans are added to. It needs a stock item, which you add on the Stock tab.

Enter what you made

Unit size (oz) and Units produced. PintDeck shows the Theoretical count, the Yield and the Waste.

Complete run

Every keg of that beer held for canning is marked dirty, and the units are added to the stock item's count. The run is listed under Canning runs on both the beer and the stock item.
