At the door

Let guests in by scanning their tickets, take money from anyone who still owes, admit by hand, and seat walk-ins.

At an event with a list, staff let people in by scanning their tickets with PintDeck Business for iPhone. The guest list on the web or the phone covers everything a scan can't: a dead phone, a guest who still owes, someone who didn't reserve. Anyone on your team can work the door.

Scan tickets

Open the scanner

In PintDeck Business for iPhone, tap the scan button in the search bar on Today (it's on Cellar too). It says Point at a tag or a ticket: the same camera scans keg tags.

Point it at the guest's ticket

Members tap Show at the door on the event in PintDeck Taste. Guests you added by name show the code on their pay link page once they've paid.

The code in the Taste app changes every minute, so a screenshot of someone else's ticket won't get anyone in.

Tickets in Apple Wallet

Members can add a seat to Apple Wallet, where it comes up on their lock screen on the night. A free seat's Wallet ticket has a code you can scan like any other; it gets one person in, once. A paid seat's Wallet ticket has no code, so those guests open the ticket in the Taste app instead.

Guests who still owe

On iPhone, scanning a ticket (or tapping Admit) for an order that still owes opens Owes instead of letting them in. It shows what they owe and their seats.

  • Took it by hand. Pick how they paid under How are they paying? (cash, a card on your reader, Venmo…), check the amount in Took, and tap Took $40 · admit 2. Everyone on the order goes in.
  • Show pay QR. Their pay link fills your screen for them to scan and pay on their own phone. It turns green the moment the payment lands, and lets them in.
  • Charge a card. Opens their payment page on your phone, through your Stripe or Square account, to type the card in.
  • Admit anyway. Lets them in still owing. Only admins and the owner see it, and the order keeps showing what they owe.

On the web, a row that owes has Take payment beside Admit: take the money first. See Take payment.

Admit by hand

When a phone is dead or a code won't scan, find the guest on the Guests tab and click Admit (or Admit 2 for two seats). It counts the same as a scan, and lets in every seat on their order that isn't in yet.

Admit shows from two hours before doors until the date ends. Before that, the tab says Admit by hand opens two hours before doors, with walk-ins.

Walk-ins

While a date is on, the Guests tab has a Walk-in box (on iPhone, a Walk-in row) for someone who didn't reserve, as long as spots are left.

  • A Taste member: type their @handle and pick them. They take the next numbered seat and collect the night like anyone else. If they already held a seat, they're let in on it.
  • Anyone else: type their name and click Seat. They take a spot on the list, so the count stays right, but there's nothing for them to collect.

At a paid event, a walk-in owes the ticket price: their row says Owes $25, and you take it with Take payment. Once every spot is taken, a walk-in is refused with Every spot is taken.
