Tasks

The team's to-do list, with projects, sections, who's doing what, due dates and five ways to look at it.

Tasks is for the team's work: cleaning, orders, deliveries, brew days. Group tasks in sections, give each a person and a day, and the ones with dates show on the calendar.

Projects and the Inbox

The Projects list on the left holds:

  • Inbox: built in. Tasks added from the calendar, Today or another page land here, in its first section.
  • All Projects: every project's tasks at once, grouped by project.
  • Your projects, each with a count of its open tasks. New project adds one.

A project's … menu has Edit (name, color and description), Save as template…, Archive and Delete…. Show archived at the bottom lists archived projects, each with a button to bring it back.

Archive a finished project

Deleting a project can't be undone. To put a project away and keep its tasks, Archive it instead.

Sections

A project's tasks sit in sections, like This week or Cellar. In an empty project, click New section and name it; after that, New section is at the bottom of the list. Sections are added inside a project, not in All Projects.

Each section's row shows how many tasks it has, everyone assigned across them, the earliest start and the latest due date. Its … menu moves it (Move to top, Move up, Move down, Move to bottom) or deletes it. Deleting a section deletes its tasks too. You can also drag sections and tasks by their handles.

Add a task

Click Add task under a section, type the title and press Enter. The box stays open for the next one.

From anywhere else, Add › Task on the calendar or Today asks What needs doing? and when it's Due, and puts it in the Inbox. A task can also start on the page of the thing it's for; see Tasks for events, brews and beers.

Fill in the details

Most columns in the list edit in place; double-click a title to rename it. For everything, click a task's title (or … › Open details) to open Task details. Changes save as you go.

Who hears about it

Someone you assign gets an Assigned to you notification on PintDeck Business for iPhone, and a comment notifies the task's other assignees there. You don't get notified about your own changes.

Tags

The tag button at the top of the tab opens Manage tags, to rename, recolor or remove tags. Task tag colors can also be changed from the calendar's Colors.

Mark it done

Tick the box beside it. To take it back, untick it. A task's … menu has Delete task, which can't be undone.

Five views

The buttons at the top of the tab switch between them. They show the project picked on the left.

On iPhone

In PintDeck Business for iPhone, tasks are To-dos: on the Calendar tab, under Plan. The chips along the top pick Today, Assigned to me or a project, and + at the end of them adds a project. Switch between List, Board, Gantt and Calendar below.

+ at the top adds a to-do: What needs doing, when it's Due (today, tomorrow or a date), Who, the Section and Tags, and Notes. Opening a to-do adds Where it's at (To Do, In Progress or Done), Comments, and Waits on for the to-dos it follows.
