Reports
Open a built-in report, build your own from any of your data, and save it so everyone at the brewery can open it.
Reports answers the questions the dashboard doesn't: which beers sold best on Fridays, how a recipe's ABV has drifted, which perks members actually use. Start from one of PintDeck's reports, or build one from scratch, then save it for the whole brewery.
Open a report
The Reports button (a bookmark) in the toolbar lists every report you can open:
- Built in: 47 reports PintDeck ships, in four groups: The register, Beer and the cellar, Taste and The club. Each says what it's for, like Busiest hours: Tickets by weekday and hour, so the schedule can follow the room.
- Saved by your brewery: reports your team saved, with who changed each one last and when.
Once a report is open, the button shows its name. A dot beside it means you've changed it since you opened it.
A dashboard card's Open in Reports lands here too, with the card's report and period.
Build a report
Pick the data
The first menu in the toolbar is the data the report reads: Orders, Sales, Production, Cellar and so on. See What you can report on.
Pick the period
The period button works like the dashboard's, with Compare. Where the data has more than one date, By picks which one the period means: for Production, when it was Brewed, Expected out or Actually out.
Group it
Under Group by in the Inputs column, Add up to two fields to break the numbers down, like Beer or Level. A date field takes a bucket: Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year, or a repeating one like Day of week or Hour of day. With no grouping, the report is one total.
Pick the metrics
Under Metrics, Add up to eight numbers, like Net sales or Units sold. Where a number can be added up more than one way, pick how: Sum, Average, Median, Minimum, Maximum, 90th percentile, Count or Distinct count. Drag the grips to reorder groups and metrics.
Filter it
The chips under the toolbar filter the report. The common ones are there to start, like Beer and Style; + Filter adds any other field, and Clear all removes them all.
Choose how it's drawn
Chart or Table. A chart offers the kinds that suit the report: Line, Area, Bar, Horizontal bar, Stacked bar, Donut, Heatmap or KPI (one big number). The line above the result says what's on screen, like 12 groups · 2 metrics · Last 30 days.
On a phone, the Inputs button opens the same controls in a sheet.
More in the Inputs column
- Small multiples: one small chart per value, like per quarter, per level or per location.
- Sort & limit: sort by the first group or a metric, keep only the Top few (up to 100), and turn on The rest as "Other" to keep a total of what's left.
- Options: Show empty days and hours keeps the gaps in a chart over time; Hide empty rows drops rows with nothing in either period; Include demo beers counts your demo beers.
A report that would have more than 1,000 groups shows the first 1,000 and says The first 1,000 groups only. Add a filter or a Top N.
Every row, not totals
Summary shows the totals. Detailed lists the rows underneath them (every ticket, every keg fill, every perk used), and with a group, Grouped or Ungrouped.
Taste is the exception: its reports are totals only, and say Totals only, for drinkers' privacy. A list of individual check-ins would be a trace of someone's evening, even with no name on it.
Save and share
Saved reports belong to the brewery: everyone on the team sees the same list, and anyone can open, change and save them.
Save it
Open Save and choose Save report… (or Save as a new report… when you started from another). Give it a Name and, if it helps, a Description. It keeps the groups, metrics, filters and period.
Keep it up to date
After changing a saved report, Save shows Save changes to its name. Rename or describe… changes its name or description for everyone.
Pin it to the dashboard
Add to the dashboard puts the report on the dashboard as a card. Only admins can add cards; anyone else is asked to save it and have an admin pin it.
Start over clears the builder. Delete removes a saved report for everyone, so only the person who made it, or an admin, can delete it. Cards made from it keep working.
Two saved reports can't share a name.
Exports
Export, beside Save, downloads the report as a PDF, an Excel workbook or a CSV, or opens it to print. See Export and print.
