Keg QR stickers

Will your keg stickers work?

PintDeck tracks each keg by the QR sticker on it. Scan two of yours with your phone or computer and see if they’ll work, before you stick them on or buy more. No account needed.

Point your camera at one of your keg stickers.

Your stickers

  1. 1
    Scan one of your stickers

With your phone’s camera or your computer’s. Or take a photo of it.

  2. 2
Scan a second one, from another keg

Every keg needs its own code, so we check that they’re different.

  3. 3
    See if they’ll work

And how they go into PintDeck: a whole roll at once, or one scan each.

The camera runs on this device, and nothing you scan is sent to PintDeck.

How it works

One sticker, one keg.

PintDeck finds a keg by the code inside its QR sticker. What the code says doesn’t matter, as long as no two kegs share one.

  1. 01Every keg gets its own stickerThe code inside the QR is that keg’s ID number in PintDeck. The next keg gets the next sticker.
  2. 02Scan it with an iPhonePintDeck Business for iPhone reads the sticker and opens that keg. There’s no scanner to buy.
  3. 03Scan it when it movesWhen it’s filled, sent out and brought back. Then you know where each keg is and what’s in it.

What works

Any QR code, as long as every keg’s is different.

Works best

Numbered stickers

The QR holds just the number, and the number is printed under it too. Add a whole roll at once: its first number and how many.

Different codes or links

Stickers from another keg app or a label printer work, as long as no two match. They go in by scanning each one with the iPhone app.

COPPERLIGHTCOPPERLIGHT
Won’t work

The same code on every sticker

Stickers that all open your website or menu look the same to a scan, so PintDeck can’t tell the kegs apart.

Getting stickers

Buying new ones? Ask for these.

Any label printer can make them. Search for this, or send the list to a printer you already use.

When they arrive, check two with the checker above.

  • A different number on every sticker, in order

0001, 0002, 0003… with the number printed under the QR, too.

  • The QR holds only the number

No web link. Ask for “the serial number encoded in the QR”.

  • Polyester, with a permanent adhesive

Waterproof, and rated for cleaning chemicals, heat and the cold room. Paper stickers won’t last a keg washer.

  • About 1.5 to 2 inches

Big enough to scan from arm’s length.

  • More than you have kegs

For new kegs and the odd sticker that peels off.

Keg stickers, answered.

Ask us something else
Do my stickers have to be numbered?

No. Any QR code works, as long as every keg’s is different. Numbered ones are just the quickest to add: a whole roll goes in at once by its first number and how many. Other codes go in by scanning each one with the iPhone app.

Will stickers from my old keg app work?

If every sticker holds a different code, yes. Check two of them above, then scan each one in with PintDeck Business for iPhone. Each code becomes a keg, and a sticker that’s already a keg is skipped.

My kegs have numbers stamped on them. Can I use those?

Yes. Add each keg with its stamped number as its ID number, and type the number in place of a scan. You can also print a QR code for any keg from its page in PintDeck.

Do leading zeros matter?

No. A sticker that holds 0042 finds the keg with ID number 42. That also means 0042 and 42 count as the same code, so they can’t be on two different kegs.

What if a sticker falls off?

Stick a new one on and add its code to the keg under Edit details › ID numbers. A keg can have more than one ID number, so there’s nothing to remove.

Do I need a barcode scanner?

No. PintDeck Business for iPhone reads stickers with the iPhone’s camera. It reads QR codes only, not striped barcodes, so for a barcode label, type the number printed under it.
